why posture?

Ageing happens to us all, if we’re lucky, but it brings with it concerns. One of our greatest fears with ageing, is the loss of our mobility and independence. Poor posture is both one of the causes and the effects of the loss of mobility. 

 

We all want to live autonomously and do the things we love to do for as long as we can. And we want our lives to be easy. To help us enjoy the quality of life we desire it’s important to give our bodies the attention they deserve. By being aware of and aligning your posture you can restore your mobility and maintain it as you live longer (viz, age). 

 

Poor posture can be improved and a loss of mobility, prevented.

 

We all need to exercise to some extent to keep our bodies moving well. By practicing Karana Posture you minimise both the effort involved and the time you need to spend. Through the Karana Posture program I share with you the essential exercises to maintain your range of motion and function as you age and prevent your body from the gradual and omnipresent process of closing down. 

What Does It Entail?

The Karana Posture Program involves 8 one-on-one sessions which include:

 

  • assessment,

  • manual therapy (hands-on adjustments),

  • deep tissue release (as required),

  • therapist mediated (passive) stretching, 

  • education and training in the Karana Posture Series of exercises and 

  • written handouts and daily posture 'hacks'.

 

Each session builds on the previous one as you slowly learn to change the way you move on a daily basis, perform the exercises well and integrate the exercises into your daily or weekly routine.

 

We explore your structural alignment, your muscular strength and joint mobility, the way you stand and sit and functional movement patterns. You also receive daily posture ‘hacks’ to enhance your body awareness and kinaesthetic sensitivity to embody the changes with ease. Each program is tailored to your specific body, lifestyle and fitness or functional needs. 

 

With individual supervision and support it’s possible to reach new levels of movement and function rapidly.

Karakrista has extensive experience as a Physiotherapist, Yoga Teacher and facilitator for more than 30 years. She has trained thousands of clients in effective exercises to enhance their postural alignment and has conducted multiple successful workshops in Yoga & Posture, following the Karana Posture Series of exercises.

in Sunrise Beach on a weekly (or fortnightly) basis.

 

Hence ideally, choose a time to start

when you know you can commit

to the two (or four) months training.

 

The final two sessions
