Hello beautiful friends,

There was a moment when my writing mentor was editing one of my chapters and she said to me, "I was so happy to read this!"

I’d been talking about ideal posture and movement when I made a statement that to improve your posture and ease your pain you don’t have to do backbends and you don’t have to be a yogi.

It was a relief to my mentor to read that better posture and relief of pain were possible without a dramatic change in her body and way of life.

So, I say this to you too...

You don’t have to be perfect.

You don’t have to stand on your head.

You don’t even have to be flexible!

In fact, you don’t have to do yoga at all.

We're not all going to look the same - perfectly tall and open. You may never embody perfect posture, certainly not all the time.

But what you do need, is change the status quo of your body.

To improve your posture and ease your pain you need to make a tangible and visible change in your body.

You'll know when you've succeeded when you can feel it and others can see it.

The good news is:

Small changes in your status quo in the right places can make a big difference.

To improve your posture, relieve pain and minimise stiffness as you age there are two major things to think about to create positive change in your body:

(i) practice good posture most of the time and

(ii) cultivate or maintain balanced mobility of your spine.

You need to address your worst postural habits and continue to practice mobilising or stretching exercises for the spine because our lifestyles don't do that for us in most instances.

A Positive Ratio

If you slump your spine or stand on one leg more often than not, you need to make regular, small changes to reverse this ratio. You don't have to be perfect, just better. When your good practices outweigh the less desirable ones you'll slowly move towards a better state of health.

And if your spine is particularly stiff in one direction, it's really important to restore some of that movement slowly over time and move your dial closer towards balance.

Often, just a few degrees of increased stretch or strength in the right places – towards better alignment – can make the precise difference your body needs to relieve your chronic pain.

You may never have perfect posture or mobility but just a few degrees of difference can make all the difference to your pain and function.

Your Unique Posture Essentials

I love to teach the whole Karana Posture Program – click here for the full description (and current discount offer) – but as we've discussed, small steps make a difference too.

So I'm encouraging you today to come along for a Posture Consultation and together we''ll discern the most important aspect of your posture for you to practice and the top exercises you need to focus on to create tangible and visible change for the better.

With Regular practice – about three times a week – you can transform yourself and create the change you want to feel. And I'll be there to assist you along the way.

I hope to see you soon if you're ready to restore a little balance.

Yours in freedom, vitality and JOY,

ree
