Or, Are You Ahead of the Rest?
Hello beautiful friends,
Most of us are motivated by pain. Pain has a way of waking us up and forcing us to put our body’s best interests first.
When pain becomes loud enough, we finally do what’s needed to move away from it.
Far fewer people, however, are motivated to embody good posture for its own sake — though I happen to think good posture is pretty sexy.
The truth is that, in many cases, improving your posture is precisely the path that leads to lasting relief from pain. It addresses the underlying patterns rather than chasing symptoms.
At the heart of my passion for posture is a simple intention: to help you to avoid pain, or at least significantly reduce it, so you can live a life with greater ease and freedom.
Interestingly, my own connection to posture didn’t arise from physical pain. It began through a course in Eastern philosophy, which recognises the importance of the Centre — the body’s axis of balance, energy, and gravity. Viewing my clients through this lens, a clear pattern emerged between pain and a lack of centredness. To be centred, I came to understand, is simply another way of describing postural balance.
That said, none of us are immune to resistance to change. I'm no exception – recently reminded, rather painfully, of what happens when we overdo habits or choices we know don't truly support us, even though they’re enjoyable at the time. Sigh.
Unfortunately, it seems to be human nature to wait until the body breaks down before we listen.
As Joe Dispenza puts it:
“It seems that human nature is such that we balk at changing until things get really bad and we’re so uncomfortable that we can no longer go on with business as usual.”
If I asked you where you’re stiff, restricted, or where your posture isn’t quite right, chances are you could answer immediately. Most of us are already aware of our limitations and habits — we just don’t always act on them.
You might be exercising regularly and still carry flat feet, inward-turning knees, exaggerated spinal curves, tight hamstrings, weak abdominals, a rounded upper back, or a head that juts forward into the next day (as I like to say).

Our bodies nearly always give us early signals that something is off. Yet many of us wait for the proverbial “Mack truck” (as a friend of mine loves to say) before doing anything about posture or persistent stiffness.
But there is another way — a way of being more attuned to your body, more of the time.
Karana Posture is not just about bones, muscles and sinews. It’s about truly living in your body, cultivating a conscious and ongoing relationship with physical sensation.
It’s about making your body a director — giving it a seat in the boardroom.
When you learn to listen to the quieter signals, respond to the whispers rather than the screams (I'm listening to my own words), and treat your body with respect, it becomes a powerful ally rather than something you’re constantly managing or fixing.
Listening requires sensitivity — an ability to feel what’s happening in your body from moment to moment.
Honouring your body means recognising your unique strengths, weaknesses, and imbalances (because we all have them), and developing the discipline to support yourself with the appropriate targeted exercies, movement and healthy postural habits.
The Karana Posture Program is designed to offer exactly this. You learn the fundamentals of healthy alignment, strength and flexibility, whilst also being guided to address your individual needs. It’s not about forcing your body into a mould, but about restoring balance from where you are right now.
Sometimes, just a few degrees of increased flexibility or a grade more strength in the right places makes all the difference to your comfort and freedom of mobility.
Are You One of the Crowd? Or Are You Ahead of the Rest? is ultimately an invitation to step out of autopilot and into a more empowered relationship with your body.
By developing your own home posture routine, you move beyond simply “doing exercises” and begin learning how to feel, listen, and respond to your body’s needs in each moment. This shift — from rote repetition to embodied awareness — builds confidence, self-trust, and most of all, lasting change. You'll really feel the results of your efforts.
Rather than outsourcing your wellbeing to Health Practitioners, you become an active participant in it, cultivating posture not as a chore, but as a living, responsive practice that supports you for life.
Here's what one client had to say about her experience of embracing the Karana Posture Program:
"I’ve really appreciated the time, care and guidance you’ve provided throughout the posture program — the exercises and the awareness around my posture have been genuinely helpful, and I’ll continue to integrate them into my day-to-day. Thank you again for everything — I’ve truly valued the support and what I’ve learned." Whitney E.
